Dr Sandra Garrido studies how arts-based interventions can affect our mood, emotions and wellbeing. She is a pianist, a violinist and an award-winning researcher with 10+ years experience in academic and not-for-profit sectors. With a background in both music and psychology she completed her PhD at the University of New South Wales in 2012. Sandra’s research has provided the evidence for effective programs and tools that use music to improve mood and quality of life for young people with depression and older people with dementia. Sandra is deeply committed to advocating for the arts in health and for co-design, participatory research, and person-centred research and implementation.
